King Edtfard cabled to President Roosevelt as follows"Had great pleasure in entertaining Admiral Cotton and the captain of tbe fqaadron, and proposed your health with every feeling of cordiality andfriendship." SPEECHES AT THE MANSION HOUSI. INSPECTION BY THE KINO. Received 12, 5.20 p.m. Lohdom, July 11, Admiral Cotton and the oifioeta of the Ameiican squadron were entertained at luncheon at the Mansion House.
Mr Ohancey Depew in the course of his spepph in referring to the friftnd« ship existing between Britain, Franoe, and the United States, alluded in taima of praise to the taot, wisdom, and statesmanship of King JSiward., The Lord Mayor, alluding to Fcteident Roosevelt's aotion relative to tha Kishineff outrages, said he rejoioed that Ameiica was not always found by the stern usages of diplomacy. America had the oourage to do what she thought right, and did not hesitate to protest against modern barbaritiea, She had done her utmost to allievate tbe lot of tbe oppressed. (Oheeis.) Admiral Cotton and tbe officers this evening attended King Edward's inspection, whioh took plaoe in tha presence of tbe Queen, of the Honourable Artillery Company of London, two hundred members of which are proceeding to Massachusetts at the invitation of the Honorable Artillery Company of Boston. King Bid ward said &e'hopsd the journey of the artilleryman would help to cement tha friendship betwasa Britain and America," a matter to which I attach the greatest importanoS| and am always glad to know of."
