ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Per Press Association. Wellington, July 11. An elderly man named John Dagge bslcingiog to Wanganni expired suddenly after eating lunch to-day,
DEATH FROM SYNCOPE. Shortly after noon on Saturday Mr J. Sims, a member of the Fife Brigade, residing in (Jourteaay-stieet, on returning home found his wife lying dead at the back door of tha house. Dr Leatham was at once oiled and pronounced life extinct, bu 1 ; C3u'd not state the cause of death without a post mtrtern examination. This was subsequently made by Dr Fookes. An inquest was held at the Red House Hotel on Suaday by Mr R. L. Stanford. According to her husband's evidence he lefc her in good health at 7.30 a.m., but found her laying dead at the baok door of his house on returning at noon, dinner beiog all ready. Mrs Bennbtt, a neighbour, saw deceased about 11.30 sweeping out tbe yard. Dr. Fookes stated he had njide a post mortem examination and found tbe heart somewhat fatty and dilated He attributed death to syncope. The jury returned their verdict in accordance with the mediol evidence. Deceased was about 38 years of age.
