The Grand Lodge of Freemasons of New Zealand Trustees Bill was read a secand time. ADDBESMN-BEPLY. Mr Cblvin resumed the debatet He held that all legislative and administrative bodies should be elective. He hopad the Government would persevere frith the State Fire Insurance Bill. The liquor question Bhoiild be settled once and for all. Mr Donald Reid considered the Imperial "policy i f the Government was good hut its domes'ic legislation was of a mixed character. . Mr Hanan saioNhe would strongly oppose any attempt to replace the licensing bench by magistrates. Ho urged the cheapening of secondary education and a proper system of training teachers. Mr Ell urged tint no more land should be sold by State and that the remaining Grown lands should only bo disposed of on lease. The House adjourned at 5 30 p m.

Ev«n<o Sitting. The House resumed at 7.30. Mr Lawry asserted that nothing had •ver fallen from Ministers thatcou'd be taken to indicate that they proposed to take away the freehold. He considered the Government should provide aome adequate system of local Government with increased powers. Mr A. L, D. Fraeer considered that New Zealand, Canada. Australia and India should be represented on tha Privy Council. He supported the freehold within limits and c ?ndemned the present ballot system, and urged that bush lands sbou'd be cleared by ■iwmilU before settlers were placed upon them. Mr Barber spoke. After Mr Witheford had spoken the House rose.
