ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
' FEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. ' Wellington, July 7. Lily R-smussen, nina years of age, daughter of Neil Rasmussen, died in the h«spital from bums caused by her , clothing catching flto at the kitchen ' stove. Cheistchuroh, July 7. I A man named William John Cochrane fell dead while driving a cart on the Eist B.lt to-day. He had been , suffering from heart disease, Auckland, July 7. A most extraordinary accident occurred las': night, when D. Russell, a school teacher of Waihou, near Te Aroha, together with bis wife and three girls, ranging from about 12 to 3 years of age, were accidentally poisoned. It I appears that the youngest girl was phyirg with a teapot and a box of wax ves'ss, and unknown to her sister she P put the matches into the teapot. The tea was made, and the accident was not discovered till towards the close of the meal, when the teapot was re filled, [ and then the matches were ssen in the teapot. A doctor was immediately 1 telegraphed for, and meanwhile emetics ' were administered with good effect. ' When the d ctor arrived Mrs Russell ! was in a temi collapsed condition, but | the others were out of danger. To-day ' Mrs Eumll was reported to be pro- . grossing favourably. A fatal train accident occurred today to a man named John Oavanagh, a cook at tha Marist Brothers School. He fell off the car whilst it was in motion, st'iking his head cn the road and sustaiuing concussion of the brain. He was removed to the hospital, but died four hours afterwards.
