Tfli signal success which athmdad the opening of the baz «r at the Theatre Royal in aid of the Victorii College for Maori girls proved that, apart from the worthy object in view, tne entertainment was attractive to the public. It was not surprising, therefore, thit on Friday evening the attendance should again have bean very large, close on £26 being taken at the doors. The hakas by the native] were somewhat varied from tho3e on the opening night, and proved equally p'.easing to the visitors, a new item a Fijian charm— ei.,* also greatly appreciated. iVioocis Mannering and Ryan sang a due% and received a well merited encore. Mr Ryan a'so contributed a solo which was received with much applause. The Maori village proved a great attraction, and the beautifully carved work (kindly lent by Mr Butterworth) was greatly admired. The stalls di J very fur business, especially in refreshments, the total taking! for the night beiog over £SO. So far the financial result has been eminently satisfactory, aboui £l9O having been raised, but it is hoped that a welcome addition will accrue from
A MATINEE TO DAY, which will commence at 2.30 p.m., and should be attendel by a large number of country people and others who have not yet had an opportunity of swing and hearing the remarkably clever items given by the natives. The contents of the various stalls will be concentrated at one stall, aod it is to be hoped thai visitors will nit fail to fry and cleir out the excellent assortment that still remains to be sold.
