WHITELEY MEMORIAL CHURCH.
Thkbe was a busy scene of activity at the above Church on Fiiday. evening, whan -the' monthly meeting of the Ladies Guild was held. It was anticipated theie would bean extra large number present, and this estimate proved correct. Over a hucdrc d persons ■at down to tea, which was provided by Mesdames Morshead, S. B. White, and Bodgero. Thoset prostnt included re- " presenjatives from various parts of the town and suburbs, and as fir distant as the Goast Mission district. After tea, a short musical programme, arrange! by Miss Djnglas, was submitttd, and 'included songs by Mrs Fikett, Mines Brown and Sborney, and Mr Haiold White. Mr Whitaker (Circuit StStilfd) nfode a short statement of the results. of the work of the church during the past quarter. There had been extra expenditure for removal expenses and refurnishing, but including these, there was a shortage of £6 only on the quartan operations. The debt on circuit account was about £l7. The Rev J. N. Buttle had pronr'sed to deliver a lecture on the lire and work of the late !)• L. WooJ, and he appealed to the members of the cougrega'ion to secure the success of the tffurfc, We understand'that the date has been fixed for. Wednesday, July 29th. Hearty thanks were accorded ti those who had pro-. Tided the tea, and suppl.ed the musical items. After tea, the monthly meeting of Sunday School teachers was held at which final arrangements were made in cinnection wish the concert in aid of the school funds on Thursday Oaxt. Other matters we r e dealt with relating to the woik of the school. There was also a large attendance at the weakly prac'ice of the choir. Handel's great work "Judas Macibaeus "was put in hand, and will be in active rehearsal through the winter months. Mr G. H. White candncted, and Mr Harold White was at the organ. Altogether the evening was a very busy one at the church.
