WATER FAMINE.

Meantime the Government has asked the Borough CouEcil to form a Water Supply Committee to assist tha Government officials in maintaining the domestic supply. Government trains are kept runnicg to obtain a supply from Silverfon dam. The Engineer at S;ephers Creek explains that the sudden stoppage was caused by the town eervica running dry; he hopes when the auxiliary pumps are started that he will be able to supp'y all tha mines though he is doubtful. A train with 30,000 gallons is expected fioro South Australia this morning. The Government hiva given instructions not to supply any of th's Water above domes'ie requirements to the mines for a d.iy or two till the actual position is d-flaed. Several nrnes, for the time being, keep oa a number of men at Government prospecting woik, thus reducing! the number of men idle to some extent. The Oan'-ra* Minj ar.d tin Dry Magnetic Mine's plant is unaffected. Toe stoppage will hive a serious effect on the trade of Adelaide as regards both the demand and supplies and the shipping of ore.
