TARANAKI AND EGMONT COUNTIES.
ADJUSTMENT OF ACCOUNTS. Oa Tuesday, at the iffice of the Taranaki County Council, a meeting of rer prasentatives of the Taranaki and Egmont Counci's was held with the object of adjusting the amount due by ■ Vie Egmont to the Taranaki County. .. Tuera were present Messrs Okey, Gray, ' and Brown on behalf of the Taranaki County,.and Messrs Maxwell and Fleming (who were accompanied by Mr M, - J. Brennan) representing the Egoaott County. Mr Okey presided. The following financial statement was agreed to as a bas : s for the settlement:— VALUATION". The total valuation cf the district, >8 on 3let Marcb, 1902, stood at £1,976,905, divided as follows: £ Taranaki County 1,562,234 Egmont County 414,731 Liabilities ~ .. 6301 Assets 2851 VALUATION OF WOBKISQ PLANT. £ Old Oruther and Engine .. 350 New Engine and Smefier 827 HOSnXAL COHTBIBOTION. Hospital contribution levied on, and J paid by the Taranaki County for year to 31(t March, 1903, amounts to £865 14a. Taranaki County's share £68510s Egmont County's share £IBO 4s Amounts paid by the Taranaki County for work done in the Egmont County after passing of the Egmont County Act, £ Si d, labour per Foreman's report .. .. .. 142 16 7 Timber accounts ... 6 15 11 Btora account .. .. 112 0 £lsl 4" 6 The following decisions were arrived at:— (1) That the adjustment be made on a valuation bash. . (2) That the combined committees lad the amount payable by the EgCounty to the Taranaki County as ■hare of liabilities over asset?, and amounts paid by the Taranaki County on behalf of the Egmont County aggregate £1092, made up as follows: Share of debit balinca of Liabilities £7lB Amounts paid Hospital Board 180 Amounts for work in Egmont County .. .. ~ 151 Interest on balance to dtte .. 43 £1092 and recommend that such amount (£1092) be 'payable by the Egmont County to the Taranaki County in settlement. (3) That the Eitham-road Loan be taken over and administered by the Egmont County as from date, and that auy credit balance resulting from collection of back rates by the Taranaki County, be paid over to the Egmont County.(4) That bank rate of interest be allowed the Taranaki County on amount payable by tae Egmout County from date to time of piyment. (5) D ding with distribution of the two crusher plant?, it was decided to defer the matter until the members of the Egmont County had placed the question before their Council.
