A tragedy occurred at South ¥arra, Che landlady wfcere a young couple named S ott and their two ohildrcn were staying failed to rouse them, and entered the room. She fouad Mrs S'.olt and her three-year-old child lying dead on the bsd with their beads bat'ertd ir, a blood-stained tomahawk laying on the fbor. The second child wes in bed uaharmed. S ott is missing, and has not bseo wen tincj be r» tired last n : gh". Beceived 27, 0.24 B.m. Melbourne, May 26. Later derails show that the skull of the second Stott chil i, 18-months old, »as bidly fractured, and thit recovery '8 hipeleas. Tbe:e are indiciMcns of a terrible struggle, the othi-r two victims being fearfully chopped about. The family are in poor circumstances', and occupied a single rrom. Stotfc was a labourer, End was dismissed from his employment on Friday. He is still missing.
