Goodwin That tho letter from the secretary of the Harbour Improvement League be acknowledged, and a copy of the resolution passed on February 7th ba sent, as fullows : That this branch disapproves of any extension of the New Plymouth Harbour, or in any way increasing the rates, until we have a more equal representation, and that in the opinion of this I ranch, the whole 1 force of the Farmers Union should be i exerted to secure the necessary reforms of an entirely elective New Plymouth ' Harbour Board, and a re-adjustment of the wards on a valuation basis, so as. to give just an equal representation to all parts of the Harbour Rating district. At St. Mary's Church on Sunday even" ing, the Kev F. G.Evans stated it wa 8 intended to hold a short service, lasting half an hour, to return thanks for the safe arrival of Dr Neligan. It is expected that Bishops Nevillo of Dunedin, and Julius <'f Christchuich, with Dr Neligan and other clergymen on their way to Auckland to take part in the consecration of Dr Neligan, as Bishop of Auckland, will be present Dr Neligan passes j through New Plymouth by the Rotoiti on Tuesday.
Early on Wednenday the wind blew terrifically at Manaia. How strong it was may be judged from the fact that five telegraph posts in the neighbourhood of Mr J. R. Dr Neligan, Bishop elect of Auckland, and his family arrived from London at Wellington oil Saturday. He was welcomed by Bishop Neville and Archdeacon Calder (Auckland), aud Fancourt (Wei lington).
Justice Conolly referring on Saturday to Richardson's method of conducting his .case, said he was surprised at his own |endurance. Richardson said if his Honour would let him have a fair trial, there would not be a quieter man in the colony. Justice Conolly : ' ■ That is an abominable assertion, and a false one."
