Auckland, May 13. < In reply to the Trades at d Labour Council deputation, the Premier sa : d ' the Goverrment intend to ask Parlia- « ment to give preference to unionists, j safeguarded so as there could be no ' abuse of the power given by the Legislature. The Government would also appoint inspectors of awards, and he would ask Pailiament to peifccb the Arbitration Act so that what occurred in the Auckland furniture trade would not occur again, He also expressed an opinion thic there was room for a Government fire insurance department. | i
