RECREATION GROUNDS BOARD.
The Board met on Monday night, Present: Messrs Gjvett (chairman), Nowmar>, Percy Smith, and Jtiarrta Ford (h,n. stc.)
It was decided to recommend the Govarnor to appoint Mr JR. Cock a mombftr of the iio.\rd. It was r solved that the allowance of £lO offered by the Acclimatisation Society for the cars of the fiiu fry iu the grounds be p*id direct to the Board, and be alloc ited as follows: Caretaker Edgecaiub3 £7, and assistant caretaker Maca £3.
Mr Holdeo, of Makino, was thanked for his donation of two .Russian geese. The Oariing on-road paddoak will be off ;rud to Mr Joe West for £4 a year, and if not taken by him, to be offered to Hardy and Company at the same rent.
The Board thanked Mr Skeates for his offer of possums and wallabies, but as the Board have no conveniences for keeping them, they regretted they were unable to accept hi* offer. The Tukapa Football Olub wrote asking for sole use of the ground for the season. The Board oould not accede to the request. Each application will be treated on its merits, and in priority. The Board decided to enforce byelaw No. 9, which' forbids paper and other litter and rubbish being strewn in the Grounds. Owing to the wet weather on Easter Monday, the Board accepted £lO iustead of £l4 from the Star Olub for the use of the ground. The application of Mr N. K. MacDiarmid, for the erection of a monument in the grounds to the late Trooper Wiggins, was acceded to, and that the site for the. erection be on the tongue of land near the long island and the path leading to Mr King's. It was decided to reserve the ground for holding a lloral fote and fancy entertainment on November 9oh, and the ladies of the town will ba invited to attend at a later date to mee'j and consult with the B-iard as to details.
