Berlin, April 23. Beet growers in Germany, and exporters of sugar apprehend irreparable loss will ensue unless the Canadian surtax is lowered.
The Deutsche Taigeszeitung, is a pessimistic article, declares Mr. Chamberlain's policy of drawing the colonies into a commercial union will fail or succeed, according to tbe strength or wmkress of Germany's retaliation on Chnada.
The Boertenxeitung fears that commercial relations betwe3n Britain and Germany are impaired, and adds that tbe ImperUKgHc ide* in Kngland wberewih Mr. Ohamberlain bas infeoted colonies is likely to trow.
