LAND BOARD.
The Board met on Tuesday. Present: The Commissioner of Orown Lands (Mr J. Mackenzie), Messrs llculop, Rattenbury, Gonnetf, and McOluggage. In tho case of J. O'Oonnor, consent was subject to a proviso that the required improvements had been ettected. Oonsent was given to sub leases: — G. Simpson to John Morton, section 88, block 10, Ngairo; O. O'Sullivau to J Munay, section 10, block 2, Upper Waitara ; V. Smith to A. J. Orchard, sections 1, 3, and 52, block 1, Mahoe. In J. Simpson'd case the Commissioner dissented on the ground that the spirit of the Act as to personal residence had not been complied wi<h. Oonsent was given to several mortgages.
Mr* Malon", with the parties interested, waited on the Board to urge a re-hearing of A. Gordon's application to transfer section 4, block 16, Ngatiinaru, to A. Ooyne. After hearing Mr Malone's explanation of the facts of the cas% the Board decid d that in consideration of the health of the transferor and the cost of improvements effected that the £3OO consideration money was ai muoh as the purchaser should pay; also that it was essonthl the transferee (a neighbour) should hbve additional land, the transfer was therefore agreed to. An application by J. A. Hunter, through his solicitor, Mr 11. Halliwell, for consent to K. B. Beddy taking the place of J. Gamta as euh-le.%ee of section 6, block 5, Kapara, was deferred till nex* meeting, Mr Hun'.er to be informed that the Board feels there has bsea so much trouble in the past with the section as to non-compliance with residence conditions, that it would be favourable to a direct tranefer of the lease to someone who would reside on the land, rather than a sub-lease. In roply to H. F. Russell's application for permission to sub-let the I'D-.zing on sec'ion 5, block 8, Huiroa, for two years ta F. Ohamney, and tta house to A. Langdon, the Board decided that if a proper was submitted, it would hive no objection to the proposed dealing, provided it did not count for residence.
Freehold of scions 6 and 7, block 11, Huiroa, was granted to G. 0. Knox.
R. Aitohison wrote asking to be protected in the improvements in section 18, block 16, Huiroa. It was decided co pay tha valuation to applicant on the Commissioner being satisfied he is nfce proper parson to receive it. Tho Ranger reported the result, of is inspection of 122 ho'diugs, comprising 51,930 aews. He f-t itei tha'i the r» quirements of the Act as to improvements amounted to X 10,060, but that the actual improvements made were valued at .£24,972. Eleven Sectors bad not complied with the iraprov merit claus 3 , and out of 40 required to r<sil»,Bhad not complied, >ut 20 were voudent where not required. Defaults are to be notified. D. F. and W. Heliier, through Mitt. O. Hughes, submitted reaeoas for oon-residence, and applied for permission to transfer sections 7 and 21, block 2, Ngatimaru, to David Oook. To be con-idered when papers come to hand, a medical certificate to be providod.
J. Wright applied to select s?otion 83, block 10, Pouatu, his holding being too small.-Deferred, applicitit to be inform d that if not required for Government purposes, the land should, in the opinion of the Board, b3 allotted to an adjoining lessee.
Six months extension residence conditions was granted to ,f," Thompson au section 20, Bloak 4, Ngatimaru. Alfred Murray applied tor exemption trom residence on section 16, block 3, and section 5, block 4, Ngatimaru, owing to ill-heal tih. The Board d cided to inform apple int that it could not grant the request, but would be favorable to a transfer to some person who would reside on the land.

H. Hillier is to be informed that he must produce evidenoi of residence on sections 9 and 10, block 5, Ngatimaru, *nd that failure to perform the conditions of his leas t hereafter will render his interest in the lease liable to forfeiture.
A. D, McCarthy waited on the Board with an application to transfer a Half interest in sectious 2, 3,5, and 6, block 9, Mimi.—Agreed to, the transfer to be confirmed after residence conditions performed within six months. Applications for land Wi re approved is follows S. Schultz, part section 3, Nloafe 1, Pouatu, at a rental of 4 per cent, on 20s per acre; E. Williams, sections 103 and 104, block 4, P.ri u u (Sp)tswood Settlement), lease in pe - pe-.uity ; W. Baker, section 22, ll;ck 1, Mihoe, lease for one year at a rental of 225, subject to right to taka gravel when required. Mr W, bym E s, M.H.R., wrote stating tha' the royalty of 2s 61 per 1000 bricks in respect of section 69, block 14, Pouatu, was a great handicap to the maker.—He is to be informed that the amount was mutually arranged, and that the royalty goes to the credit of the selector for rent of the seo'ion.

All selectors who are two or mire payment* in arrear are to ba notified to pay forthwith, or they will be sued for s<me.
