The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have lecetved the following report- dated London, 26th February : Batter- -Our markets during the last three weeks have been disappointingly quiet, and prices are easier for rll grades. The demand is tuning chit fly on Danish and other butters from th« Continent, which are of specially good value at the present time. Large quantities of tbesa butie s are coming forward weekly, and ms thoy are fresh and sweet, command quick attention from the buyers. Heavy quantities c,f Canadian coldstored butters are still available throughout all the markets of the United Kingdom, and these hav<s been _ pressed for sale down to prices from 92s to 84s per cwt. At the reduce! prices for colonial .batters a better demand is now coming on, and should prices harden in Copenhagen a correspondingly firmer tone should be seen in colonial. j Owing to the extreme mildness of the ! weather during the past three or four weeks lsrge supplies of milk have been coming forward to our local creameries, which have been kept very busy and working up to full pressure. It is noteworthy that wbile this time last year colonial butters were quoted at from 110 a to 112s per cwt, they are this week 100s to 102=, and Danish, which commanded 116s to 118] last year, is quoted on the spot at from 108s to 110s this week. The Copenhagen official quotation is • cabled this week at an advance of four kroner.
