Folding was the first of the inland towns to lead with this industrial exhibition and no doubt Palmerston North and Wanganni would fo'low their example. He pointed out the educational advantages arising from such exhibitions, and was confident tbe Feilding Exhibition would be a great success. The Premier then referred at considerable length to the satisfactory progress of the district-, and of the colony generally, quoting figure*. He said that industries were the life of young communities. He was de'ighted to note that there was a falling off in the imports of the colony which showed they were becoming more self-supporting. All advantages for industries were present in the colony, such as motive power of river?, coal, iron, and lime in abundance, and he looked forward to the time when New Zealand might become a large manufacturing colony, instead of as at present an importing colony. The Premier was frequently cheered during his speech. He is being entertained at a bwquet this evening and leaves fur Bulls to-morrow to open a b:idge.
