THE OPPORTUNITY A TEMPORARY ONE.
It almost seems a waste of space to say much about the pecuniary aspects of the advantageous offer made by "The Times"—about the bargain as distinguished from Tte Century Dictionary and Cyclopfeiia and Atlas itself, when the latter topic suggests so many interesting thoughts, and leads to the consideration of so many striking characteristics of the work ; but it is, after all, the bargain that is at once a novelty and a matter af the hour. The Century would be none the less a great book if it weie si!d for twice the pries at which it is now sold, but the price and the system of serial payments, which so greatly facilitate the purchase of the work, are of very immediate interest to the intending purchaser. The sum for which The Century is now sold by The Times, inconsiderable as it is in comparison with the publishers' price, still remains an item to be considered in shaping the budget of any one month's expenditure. The Times, however, enables the purchaser to distribute the amount over a number of months, and by this expedient brings the work within the reach of persons of moderate means.
Educated men must buy euch a book, sooner or later, and it is a waste of money to wait until the present price has been increased, as it must inevitably be in New Zealand. The Times is Belling a limited edition upon remarkably advantageous terms, but the opportunity is a fleeting one. On Saturday, 28' h Marcb, the offer will be permanently withdrawn in .New Zealand.
