French, has bean awarded the Albert Medal for jumping ortrkoard the steamer Wakoal, and siring a fireman off the Malacca coast. Received 17, 0.57 am. London, March 16. Cardinal Vaughan, in a letter read in the Catholic Churches, asked for aignaturea to a petition praying for the abolition of (he King's accession declaration. Petitions for signatures, which were placed at the doore of tbe churches, refer to the exceptional treatment of Catholics.
