AUTOMATIC TIDE SIGNAL.

The device, which is intended for ha-bon i- bars, stinds 15 feet high, I having a semaphore arm moved by ft Q >at attached to a shaft operating the i 'semaphore. The r : S9 and fall of tha ' tide raises or lowers the arm, and figures pointed on the arc denote the amount of water on the bar. These figures may be s*en two or throe miles away. At night another apparatus is brought into play, by which s light is shown at fl x>d tide, and as the tide goes down the light is obioured. It was considered thit the device would be of great use at all tidal harbours.
