SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.

The Board met on Friday. Present: Messrs R. Cock (chairman), Mackenzie, i Allsworth, Wade and Faull. Messrs Wade and Faull's report on C. Carter's application as to his leases was adopted, and resolutions accepting sur- : render of the present leases and issuing ' new ones under specified conditions were f confirmed. i The special resolution as to W. Court- . ney's leases was also confirmed. In regard to the rents owing by Messrs T. M. Smith and R. Kirkpatrick in respect of the expired leases, it was resolved that the rents for the period subsequent to the expiration of the leases be not demanded and be written off as not owing by reason of the fact that in each case the lessees have forfeited to the Board the ' whole of the improvements on the land. 5 The Borough Engineer wrote with I reference to certain works which would , affect reserves of the Board. The Ranger's report on Stratford suburban sections was approved. W. Courtney is to be notified that unless he eradicates furze, blackberry, briars, and noxious weeds on lands leased by him proceedings will be taken to reenter in each case and declare the leases forfeited. The Treasurer reported a balance of £896 9s 10J. A sum of i' 24 received for tha sale of a creamery building was added to the land fund. The following transfers were agreed to: C. H. Weyenterg to J. T. Walsh, section 5. block 7, Ngaire ; C. E. Meyenburg to W. Sharrock, lots 4 and C, of sections 11 and 12, block 2, Nwire ; W. Courtney to R. L. Stanford, lot 21, of section W, New Plymouth. An application of J. Gibson to sublet two acres at Waiwakaiho for brick-making was referred to the Chairman and Mr Mackenzie, with power to act. It was decided to visit the Waiwakaiho reserves on Monday, 2nd March. Accounts co the amount of £lO 18s 4d were passed for payment. The Board adjourned.
