CIVIL SERVICE PROMOTION.

RETIRING OVER AGE MEN. 1 PKR PRBBS ASSOCIATION. Auckland, February 17. The Premier, in an interview, stated that the Cabinet had unanimously resolved to retire all riyil servants [over the age of 65 years. Those entitled to pensions would also be retired, except District Court Judges and Magistrates snd experts. Those between 60 and 65 entitled to compensation would also be re--tired. j The decision, Mr Beddon said, was largely the result of the dissatisfaction among the younger men in the Govern* ment service who complained that promotion was prevented by the retention of the services of men who were over age.
