Saunders moved, "That this 0 junoil records the profound pleasure it felt on receiving the Committees appointed by the Presbyter* ian General Assembly to seek anion with the Congregation*! and Methodist Churches and express its very sincere appreciation of the truly Christian spirit that has led Co the overture being made and hereby pledges itself to the immediate appointment of a Committea to meet and co operate with the Presbyterian Committee sad with the Methodist Oommitte should it be hereafter set up." | The motion was carried unanimously, I Dunedih, February IS. \ At the Congregational Union, lfta Roberts moved a motion ezpreeiing the Council's thankfulness for the remarkable progress in temperance reform ia New Zealand as evidenced by tho splendid results of the local option poll, I The Council expressed regret at the loss sustained by the whole Christie* | church by the death of the Rev. Hugh Price Hughes and Dr. Parker. A motion was also passed endorsing the action of the Legislature ia pro- J hibitiog the importation and tale of' opium. Th> Rev. E. Taylor was associated with the Rev. Glasson as editor of tho congregational aeotien of tho Christian Outlook. Rev. Sarginson was appointed to represent the Union at the forthconrng Congregational Jubilee in Auckland. A resjlutiorv was passed protesting against ths existence of the totaliseter. Oonsi Jurat ion of the proposed removal of the headquarters of the Union to Wellington was deferred for twelve months.
