J.C. WILLIAMSON'S MUSICAL COMEDY COMPANY.
Me. J. O. Williamson elsewhere announces to the music-loving public of New Plymouth that he will stage for the first time in this city, on Fabruary 11th, at the Theatre Royal, tbe much-talked-of musical novelty, " A Runaway Gir)." This musical play was first produced at Mr G )org« Edwards' London theatre, the Gaiety, in 1899, and scored such a success that it ran there for twenty-four consecutive months. Since then it has bsen transported to the Gjb inf-nt and America, where many companies have b;-en pitying it with very satisfactory results. Its Australian rtcord has also been very brilliant, as it was presented at Her Majesty's Theatre, Melbourne, for twelve consecutive weeks to crowded houses, the management stating tViat arrangements which had been previously entered into alone compelled them to reluctantly withdraw it in the height of its popularity. Iu Sydney also, at tha Thentre Royal, it had a splendid run of eight weeks, a*d Adelaide followed suit with a twoweeks' season - a remarkably long run for any one piece in that The book of " A Runaway Girl" is by Seymour Hicks and Hi try Nitsholls, lyrics by Harry Greenbank, and the mu ic, which is said to be very ca'chy, by Lionel Moucktoa and Ivau Oaryll. Apart from the production itself, the ev. Nt will be of great interest, inasmuch as it will mark the first appearance here of Mr, J, O. Williamson's Musical Uomady Company, consisting j of a brilliant coterie of upwards of en® hundred English und Australian operatic artists, with a complete opera chorus, orchestra, and ballet, The box plan for the two eights will be opaned at ,tha Colonial Pinno Oompiiny's this (Friday) morning at 10 o'clock.
