NORTH TARANAKI RIFLE ASSOCIATION.

FIRST ANNUAL MEETING ____. SECOND DAY. This weather yesterday was execrable for shooting purposes the range being enshrouded in a more or less dense fog all day. The sime officials carried out th-ir dutus in the same efficient manner but averyoae's ardour—as well as their clothes- were completely damped before the day was oyer. The first m'.tch taken was the last two ranges of the New Plymouth match which was won by Lieut. Okey with the respectable score of 95. The following were the prizi takers : NEW PLYMOUTH MITCH. 7 shots each at 300,500 and 600 yards. 308 500 6 0 To

Before the 300 range was completed the fog became bo dense as to totally obscure the targets, aiid firing bad to cease altogether for about half aa hour, At 500 yards shooting was out of the question so two " shoots " were ordered for 300 yards which were, with some difficulty completed. The fog then decreased for a short time and the squads came back—not to 500 but to 600 yards where before the match was completed, the targets could not be seen. The position created was an unfortunate one as those who fired hid to do so in a bid light, whilst those who could not fire stood a chance of being debarred. However it was decided to refer the matter te Colonel Ellis who ordered those who could not fire to do so at six this morning, The following are the highest scores as they bow stand : DISTRICT MATCH.
