ATTEMPT TO DERAIL THE BREAKWATER TRAIN.

On Wednesday evening as the train convoying passengers to the breakwater, to connect with the Ngapubi, was about opposi-e the Moturoa Hotel, the engine came in contact with an obitruction on tbe linn, but after bumping and skiddiug for a short way the lice was e'eared and the train proceeded. On going back to make an inspection it was found that a solid piece of iron, angle shaped, was laying beside th 9 metal-i, and it was evident that this had been placed over oue of the rails, forming a moss dangerous means of throwing the train oft the track, j Fortunately the engine kept to the rails or a serious disaster might have occurred.
