The Board met on Wednesday. Present : Mr Allsworth (chairman), Mrs Dougl-er y, Mesirs Adlam, McDonald, Wade, Mick*y, Taylor, Faull, and Morton.

A deputation from the Fitzroy Committee, consisting of Messrs. Wood, chairra in, Weller, and Outfield waited on the Board in support of thiiir application for a grant towards repurs to fencing, frosting window, and other matters, After hearing the deputation the B >ard decided to gi ant £ for £ subsidy up to £3 for the fencing, to contribute £\ towards a cupboard foe school apparatus, the architect being authorised to have the windows frosted, the question of a new chair being referred to tha Inspector. The Committee are to be informed that the Board is not in a position to erect an infant school in Toko at present. The Dep-rtment notified that the building grant for the year was £1750. Also that £212 or as much less as would cover the cost would be granted for the schoo', furniture, and fencing at Eahui-road. at Raupuku and a Committee formed, also urging that a school should be built there as soon as possible.—The position of affairs is to be plaoed before the Minister, with a request that funds for building the school should be im-

mediately provided. On the receipt of the grant steps are to b? taken to secure the site and te.ders invited for the building, The Inspeotor reported on the result of the Saturday chss's held in the December qmrter. The report was on the whole very satisfactory. He recommended payment of certain amounts to

the instructors. Mr Spencer also reported on the question of appointing siwing teachers, and recommends'! that, applications should be caUed for. Adopted.

On the motion of Mr Mackay, seconded by Mr Morton, it was resolved that the Board place on record

its app*eciation of the action of the Minister of Education in providing for free secondary education as set out in tbe regulations published in December list.

Mr Mackay pursuant to notice moved that this Board again communicate with thi Wanganui Bisrd with the view of jointly urging the Minister of Education to take ac'ion during the coming session of Parliament to have the revenues accrued, and accruing from the Opaku University Reserve, utilised on the manner previously suggested to thi Minister by the combin d Bonrds.—Carried unanimously.
