We understand the reason tbe Auckland men chose to pUy at Hawera was because they preferred a grass wicket. The choice of New Plymou hor Hawera was given them. The takings at the gates at Hawe-a in the late match with the Englishmen were £7O, and at New Plymouth £l3O.
