KKTIREMKNT OF THE GENERAL MANAGEh. For some time past rumours of impending changes in the headquarters staff of the Bank of New Zealand have been in circulation. We are now able to announce that Mr James Embling, who has occupied the position of general manager since Mr Tegstmeicr r. s'gned to accept a seat oa the London Board of Directors, is about to retire after many years' service iu tbe JBmk, It is understood that he is to be succeeded by Mr Michie, at present mauagor of the Bank's branch in Dunedin, Mr Embling, who is 66 years of age, has been in tbe service of tbe Bauk since 1877, and is a recognised authority on banking matters. He has ev r had the best interests of tha Bank at heart, and it was on account of the zeal and fidelity which he had shown throughout Ilia long connection nitb the institution that be was prom >'ed three years ago from the managership at Christchurch to the impoi taut po>t which he now holds.
