SHIPPING DISASTERS.
i PER PBEBB ASSOCIATION. Received 8. 11 41 p.m. New York, January 8. A Norwegian barque has been wr. ck'd at Oipe Flattery, Oregon, 18 being drowned. A BARQUE ABANDON~D. Auckland, January 8. Tourists, who arriv. d from the Islands to day, state that the barque Malvern, 594 tons, loaded with 800 tons cf copra from Nukaulofa to Europe, was abandoned off the Kerm>deos as ehe was making water, there b ing ten f#et in thi ship's hold. Oaptain Ne'son and the crew took to the boats sod landed at Duuday Island. Finding no inhtbitant-s, they proceeded to Tonga, where they arrived after a voyage of twelve days. Tbe master reports that the vessel encountered squally weather end a heavy head sea, which ciused her to leak. T< e crew suflersd no hardship', the boats being well provisioned. Later. Further particulars show that on December 13 thera vera ten feet of water in tha ship's hold?, and it was
also discovered that a portion of the cargo had caught fire. Tbe fltrars rapidly ipread and soon enveloped the whole ship. It was decided to abandon the vessel and the captain and crew left in the boats.
