At a social held last eveoicg, Mr - 0. iMcb, the defeated candidate in the late election for the Egoaont g^at ■ was presented with a lolid gold Maltese cross, pendant, and parte of sovereigns, of a total value of about £IOO as a souvenir in recognition of his fight fjr the seat. Many eulogistic spseche; were made in which reference was made to Mr Lesch's majority of the .' votes of genuine settlers, as it was ■ stated that his opponent's principal majorities were in co-operative works districts. Mr L°ech was much taken "■ back by the substantial nature of the presentation.
