ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Hokitika, May 30. Mrs Mordaunt, proprieties of the hotel at Dillucmns'.own, was found drowned in a wah-r race. It is not known how she got there. Gisbobne, May 30. This afternoon sulphur was used in mistake for salt to suppress a chimney fire, and John Pollock, whose health has been poorly, was overpowered by the fumes and tor some time was in a critical condition.
Ohristchurch, May 30. A week ago a boy named John Kenny, an inmate of the Buruham Industrial School, was admitted t> the hospital suffering from a wound in the groin. The matter was oot reported to the police till to-day, when tne boy's condition became serious and his depositions were taken. He stated that he and another boy were struggling in I the shoemaker's shop at the school for I possession of a knife, which slipped, j with the result that he was injua d. Nelson, May 30.
A two-year-old daughter of Mr James Parker was eating a walnut this afternoon whan v. stuck in her throit. A doctor wiih in attendance in a few momenta, but ic was impossible to save the child's life.
