certain undertakings shall b? given the company by the Federal Goven meni of , Australia, the principal of which is is that the proposed redaction shall not affect the agreement existing betwten the company and certain States of the Commonwealth. If this under aking is given, the reduction of lates fiom New Zealand will be:—Ordinary messages from 5s 2d to 3s 44 per word, Government me;sigej via 3s 9d to 2s 4d, Government messages via Pacific 3s 8d to 2s 3d, press memges 2s to Is 21. The international rata from New Znland will therefore b , uniform with Auscralia, plus, of coarse, threepence per word for the cable rate between this colony and Australia, and one penny for the New Zealand terminal rate.
