Speaking at the Acclimatisation Society's meeting on Saturday , Mr Day advocated the establishment of an aquarium at New Plymouth. It wosld prove an additional attraction to visitors and townspeople, and be thought it should not be difficult to secure its formation, if the residents would go into the matter in the right spirit. On Baturdsy Mr Gerard, who for some time past has been actine as D.O.A. in this district, returned to Wellington to resume his duties at the head office. He will, however, be b& ck on the 20th inst., so as to be present at the District Oourt sitting, after which he relinquishes his official conneetion here. Meanwhile Mr Medley, of the firm of Medley and Wright has been appeinted Mr G?rard's agent in bankruptcy matters, and it is understood will receive the appointment of D.O.A. after the Oourt sitting. Mr Gerard I while here worked very hard to clear up outstanding estsites, and in fact overworked himself in the laudable desire to wind up matters and leave a clean slats. Mr Medley will therefore take office under most favourable conditions, aiid creditors as well as bankrupts should be grateful for Mr Gerard's energetic services.

The New Zealancf Express Company have now in use here a large lorry, which certainly helps to give the town the appearance of a lhTge centre, and shows' that the volume of business has grown to that point when the useful express has to be suppla*ted by its larger ally.
