FOOTBALL.
REFEREES' ASSOCIATION. A meeting of representatives from various clubs in the district was held on Thursday to consider the advisablenes* of forming aji association of refere°s. There wore present. Messrs P. Spurdle (Inglewood), G. Griffi'hs, ,W. Proctor, J.'Brown. T. Petty, A. Bullott, J. Elliott, K.. Webster, F. Moverley, F T. Bellringer, G. Hop- \ kins, and J. Scanlon. A talflgram was received from Mr R. H. Kivell (Stratford) promising support and membership. Mr Bsltringer was voted to the chair. After some discussion it was decided that an association be formed, to be called the Taranaki Referee*' Association, to be affiliated wit h the New Zealand Refeiees' Association, the haidto be at New Plymouth. The annual subscription was fixed at 2s 6d. Messrs Spurdle, Hopkins, Syme, and Biilringer were appointed an examining board, and were instructed to hold on examination of next wmk. The same gentlemen were a committee pro tern. The quorum for meetings was fixed at three. Mr Geo. Syme was elected president, and the presidents of the several clubs in the Northern Division as vice-presi-dents. Mr V. T. Bellringer was ap-l pointed hon. secretary, and Mr K, Webster auditor. It was decided that the colours of the association be white, with amb"-r and black monogram. Rules and bye-laws governing the association were then considered. It was decided to hold the examination on Tuesday evening next at the Council Chambers.
Owing to the wet waither on Thursday the fixtures for that day were abandoned.
