THE SONOMA IN A STORM.
m - PUB PRESS ASSOCIATION. Auckland, April 29. News has been rfcived that the mail s'earner Sonoma, which left Auck-1-nd on April sth, encountered very heavy weather after leaving port. An easterly gale was met with which gradually inc e.sed to a hurricane, accompaniid by a tremendous sea. The steamer was continually deluged with water, which broke aboard, and she had to be hove-to for over 20 hours. Deck fittings nil, etc., were considerably damaged, and the steamer did not reach Pago Pago till two days after timetable date.
