BANKRUPTCY.

J. ABBOTT'S ESTATE. AN AMICABLE SETTLEMENT. The adjourned meeting of creditors in the above estate was held on Friday afternoon, the D.Q.A, (Mr Gerard) presiding. There W6re present Messrs D. Berry, O. Samuel, W. J. Shaw, J. Butterwotth, and F. Bolliinger. Mr Berry reported the result of his inquiries of the creditovs he represented! as to the course they desired to bo j taken, and ho intimated his willingness j to vote for a settlement of the matter.

Mr Samuel expressed great pleasure at the course taken by Mr Berry. He moved that all previous resolutions with regard to action to be taken against Mrs Abbott be resoinded.— Carried unanimously. Mr Samuel then moved that the Assignee forthwith wind up the estate and distribute the assets.

This was seconded by Mr Sbaw. On bung put to the vote the creditors in fivour amounted lo .£893 4s 6d, and against to .£435 lis lid. The motion was therefore eirried by a majority in number aud va ; uc

On the motion of Mr Bellringer, s conded by Mr Butterworth, it was decidtd that the Assignee recommend the bmktupt's rfischarg-) at the next sitting of the Court.

A hearty vo'e of thanks was passed to Mr Garatd for tre ability and promtitude ha had displayed in dealing with the estate.

Thn meeting wps then adjourned sine die.
