The dredging market in Otago shows a slight improvement as the river continues to fall steadily, and a number of dredges are preparing for a fresh start. Returns from the West Coast continue to 1.0 satisfactory, most interest centring, however, in the claims on the Nelson Creek, The Pacto'us cl-iim has now nearly paid off the expenditure on the new dredgi», amounting to nearlv £6OOO, and with present returns should pay dividends before the secopd dredge is ready to commence work in June.
