IN BANKRUPTCY.
I ESTATE OF J. ABBOTT. The adjourned meeting in the above estate was held on Friday afternoon at the office of the D.0.A., Mr Gerard, who presided, Messrs S«mjel, Berry, and W. J, Shaw were present. Mr Samuel appeared for Mrs Abbott, and handed in proxies from the following creditors:—Hamilton Burre and Company, Morrin and Company, and Chambers and Son, Auckland; Shuttleworth Brothers, J. Butterworth, T. S. Weston, E. Dockrill, Sole Brother*, Moray and Son, Smirt Brothers, McEwen Brothfrs, C. Ward, Grayson and Cock, A. D, Gray, H. W. Bullot (New Plymouth), equ-il in amount to £127 lis.
Mr Berry held proxies from creditors ' whose claims amounted to .£B9B. Mp | Shaw represented the estate ot' the late j Theophilus White. j Mr Barry said that he had not received replies from all the creditors he represented by general proxy, and not wishing to commit bis friends to action before they are thoroughly informed of the present position of the estate, he j mo»ed that the meeting be adjourned till this day week, 25th iust. Failing an adjournment he would have to vote as before, but he urged that the adjournment should be Rgi eed to. Mr Samuel said the bankruptcy had now been going on for about 15 months, and he thought that the estate should bs wound up.
After ronsiderable discussion Mr i Saiflvjel moved that the previous resolution with referenoe to the proceedings against Mrs Abbott be rescinded and that the question whether any proceedings be t«ken or not be deoideH at an adjourned meeting to be held on the 25fch April, 1902, at 3 p.m. Mr Berry intimated he would prefer to consult his solicitor as to the motion.
Eventually Mr Samuel consented to the adjournment of the meeting till next Friday at 2.30 in order to pscer tain by special resolution whether or not proceedings were 'to be taken against Mrs Abbott.
[ The D.O. A, announced thai only two tenders had been receivad for the book debt, one of £lO and the other of £2O. He recommended accepting the higher tender.—-Agreed to.
