VALEDICTORY.
A very enjoyable social was held in i fche Whiteley Hall on Tuesday evening, when the congregation and friends of the Whiteley Memorial Church gathered to say farewell to Mr and Mrs Reid and family, who are about to leive for Dunedin, and to Lieutenant F. W. Okey, who goes to England with the New Zealand Rifle Team. The Rev. S? J. Ssrpell occupied the chair. A varied programme of vocal and instrumental music and recitations was performed, light refreshments were handed round, and addresses, expressing the good wishes of the members of the church, were j/iven by Messrs Whitsker, Garter, Griffiths, and Ambury, the latter of whom, speaking as a bnsimsss man, referrod to Mr Reid's arduous duties in connection with tue goods-sheds ar.d the way in which his religion had been manifest ( there, and not merely to Sundays and in the Uhurch.
Mr Roid and Mr Okey bo'li suitably responded.
