BORING FOR COAL.

At a meeting of the Harbour Board to-night, the foreman of the bore hole •t Dobson reported that he had struck a Mam of coal 4ft. 9in. thick at a depth of 556 ft. After boring 12ft, 6in. he «trucfc a 12ft. eeam of splendid coal. He bored lift, further to make <"ire, And got through it all He does not think it much use going further. The Board deoided to push on with another bore about half a mile below Dobson. The unanimous opinion of the Board is that the discovery is of immense importance, as it points to tbe existence of an enormous coal field of the base cool at a moderate depth.
