EXPORT VALUATIONS.
FEB PIIESS ASSOCIATION. Wellington, March 20. In reply to representations from threcent conference of Cham hers of Commerce as to the unrnliable character of valuations of exports, particularly wool, the Customs Department states that although it has no reaso i to believe the valuation of exports is seiiously at fault, the Minister has no objection to ths suggestion that a c immiuee of the local chamber be consulted as to the average value of principal exports each quarter. Accordingly, Collectors of I Customs are in future to forward their 1 local Chamber of Commerce a quarterly statement of tho quantity of principal exports, with the averago price and total declared value, with the object of allowing the Chamber to express a view to its correotness.
