, Mr William" Waldorf Astor, the American millionaire, who is now resident in England, has placed £IO,OOO •at the disposal of the National R flo Association for the encouragement of .rifle shooting throughout the country. The main conditions of the gift are that the fund is to be used for establishing rifle clubß in villages and towns, to consist of volunteers and civilians alone. They are to use rifles of service pattern, and the annual subscription is not to exceed one shilling.
