ARMY ESTIMATES DEBATE.
PEB TRESS ASSOCIATION. Received 9, 4.32 p.m London, March 8. - In tho House of Commons debate on the Army Estimates Mr St. John Brodrick said that after the crisis was p&ssed it would probibly be necessary to retain 15,000 regular troops in South Africa. Mr Roberts, one of the members for Dundee, commenting on the colonies, wished thst the war should be fought to I tbe bitter end, hoped the Government would not follow Mr Chamberlain's example and grove' at the feet of the colonies. He a«ked, " Would the colooi- s bear one-fifth of t 1 e cost of the wßr ? " Mr Biodrick disdained to reply, but said ho was confident Mr Chamberlain would not maet, the Premiers of the 1 JoVuiies in suGh a spirt. The Government would n*vpr forget the exoep-! tional Bervic- s t,f the col- -ni> s, rendered without pres-ure or iisvitntion.
