" THE LADY OF LYONS." The final appearance of the popular ! Waldorf company at the Theatre Royal 1 took place on Monday night, when ' "Tha Lady of Lyons" was staged. As was anticipated, there was a large audieace, who were not only thoroughly I delighted with the bus at : times were carried away with, enthusiasm. Miss Waldorf's Pauliae wag a, I real object lesson in its way. Each j mood was handled with the consummate skill that distinguishes her acting, in the final scene especially, where the reconciliation is effected, the audience being intensely moved. As Claude Meleotte, Mr Macgregor scored another perfect succsts. It is one of those part* which hss to be handled with greet tact and experieaced judgment. Noseless; !o say that thioaghout the very trying pit ce the actor was always in sympathy | with his part, and agai'.j secured vary] hfarfev applniise. Mr IVey, as Paul-] inn's uncle, and Mr Haaray, us thui gentleman villain, both gave v»ry good] representations, as did also Mr Harry! Dougla o , as Pauline's father. The lady membars of the company ulso did exeellently, and the play want with a thoroughness from start to finish. The sc*nery also was very good, and the frsqueut applaud of the a*<li«nca testified to thsir enjoyment of the piece. |Tho company leave New Plymouth i with a reputation that will eDsuro for I them a hearty welcome on ar<y other j occasion of their playing here.
