At the parade ofi he Taranaki Battalion Headquarters Companies on Monday £)igh f , Lieutenant-Colonel Ellis on behalf of the Guards piesentcd Captain and Adjutant Taunton with a photographic shield of the members of that Company on the occasion of his ralinguishing his command on appointment to tho Adjutancy of the Battulion.

An interesting filature of tha parade was the kindly appreciative recognition of Sergeant (J. B. Lever's long connection with the Taranaki Rides of which company he has been secretary for the last nine years. On the eve of this popular sergeant's wedding, the company showed their good feeling towards him by presenting him with a double set of silrer mounted carvers. Colonel Ellis made the presentation, which was briefly acknowledge 1. The Rifles have decided to hold their annual ball ou Coronation Day.
