Che Board met on Tuesday. Present: Messrs Mackenzie (Commissioner, in she chair), Kelly, Heslop, Rattenbury, md Connett, the latter member taking 1 ' iiis teat for the first time. i The following applications for land were agreed to:—Section 21, block 4. | Ngatituaru, 263 aore>, E. 0. L*ppin' 0.r.p.; section 19, bluck 4, Owooa, 200 acres, E. Sexton, 0.r.p.; section 29 block 9, Mimi, 533 aci-es, G. E. Bennett, or.p. The following applications to transfer were agreed to: G, G. Larcom to A, G, and 8. G. laroom. one-third interest each in section 5, block 1, Opaku; Isaac Crowe to J.McDonougb, section 29, block 6, Ngatimaru; E. flblio, jnr., to T. Willy, section 91, block 10, Ngaiie J J. H. Walter to G. Weulock, eec.ion 26, bk>ek 11, Ngaire. An application from J/ W< Eapin to transfer to E. Parrott was referred to the ranger for his report. Mis' G/ E. Burton's application to transfer half interest in section 6, block 2, Upper Waitara, was agreed to aftir some discussion. E. 0. Best's application to transfer 1 to J. Wilson, section 7, block 3, Upper Waiter*; wae retused.

A. Hunter applied to sub-let section 6, bloek 6, Kapara, to 3. W. Grimes, and the latter through bis attorney, Mr W. Fisher, applied for leave of absence for twelve months, having been enrolled in the Eighth Contingent. The application was referred to the Ranger. A number of applications to mortgage were dealt with. The followiug applications for freehold were agre«d to: —R. I. Biaddeley, section 18, blook 7, Egmont; Johnj Martin, section 43, Taurutaogi; H. I Burgess, section 25, block 9, Kaupo-I kontti i A. and A. Bisset, section 5, block 8, HaweraJ (license expired); 0. Fischer, section 4, block 13, Opunake; J. Riohardt), section 77, Tikoraugi. W. J. MoMullian's application for Grown grant of section 16, blook 2, Ng&timaru was agreed to, and R. H. George's application in respect to section 9, block 5, Upper Waitara, was referred to the ranger. '.'■'.., Local bodies submitted proposals for expenditure of " third/ " as follows:—, Hawera County Council £l l6 12s, Stratford £964 lOd, Moa Road Board .£165 14s Bd, Oakura £25 18s 3d Agreed to, subject to modifications on the Stratford County proposals referred | to in the Ringer's report.

Plans and schedules of nine stutions in blocks 1, 2, and 6, Opaku, weie laid on the table, and surveyor's recommendations adopted. Plane of thirteen sections in block 2, Pouatu, and 13 and 142 Waro, vera also prcß9nted, and deferred till next' meeting. Plans of eleven sections in blocks; 11, 15, and 16, Upper Waiters, were tubmitted, and the mrvsyor's recommendations adopted.

On the Commissioner's certificate a lease will be issued to A. Dorobusch for section 73, block 10, Pouatu. R. Barron was granted a leise for] one year of section 43, Mangeehu suburban, a recreation reserve. .. ~ It was decided to declare T, F. Richardson's license of sections 5 and 6, block 5, Ngatimaru, forfeited for non-compliance with the Act. . G. £. Wilson was allowed tilt 31»t August next to effect deficient improvements on section 4, block. 10, Pouatu, W. M. McAsey was aleo granted till 15th November next to effect improvements on Motion 8, block 15, Upper Waitara. The Roads and Bridges Department was granted a lease of sections 43 and 46, Huiakama Village, for use of its officers.

Consent was given to R. A. Adams to grant tram and timber-cutting rights to W. O. Olsment, over section 94, block 10, Ngaire, aoco'ding to usual conditions.

The Ranger* report on 72 properties comprising 19.251 acres, showed the value of improvements required to be £7736, and of improvements effected £21,207. Seven selectors have not complied with requirements; 35 are resident, 22 non-resident, one exempt; 26 are required to reside, 22 are resident, three non-resident, one exempt 13 resident where residence not duo. — The report was considered satisfactory. The Ranger reported on a dumber of defaulters, etc.

It was decided to reoommeod that the area lying between the Terrace End and Mangaehu .Special Settlements and the boundary of the previous reservation be set apart as ac addition to the Mattmateooga Range Reserve.

After dealing with soma further routine work, the Board rose at 3,20 p.m.
