A meeting of ratepayers to-night ananimoudy approved of the proposal of the City Couocl to borrow £830,000 for electric tramways, street paving, and town htll. This proposal, if carried at the poll, will supersede proposals already sanc'ioned by the ratepayer* to borrow sums of £225,000, £55,000, and £50,000 for the rtspeotive purposes. The Mayor explained that it was dosirsd toconsolidtts the loans instead of going on to tbe London market for them separately.
