In conversation with a representative of the Dailt News Colonel Davies confirmed the telegram published in our Saturday's issue as to his taking the eommtnd of the Eighth Contingent.. Colonel Davies practically has nothing to do with them till they reach South Africa. The contingent will be formed in two battaliocs -006 in tha North Island and one in the South Island—«ach under a battalion commander On reaching South Africa the two battalions will be brigaded as one regiment under Colonel Davies.
