With commendable enterprise, which augurs well for the future of the large boarding-hoase in Powderhaui-street known aa Cha'sworth Hous?, Mr Howell, the new proprietor, has lost' no time in putting the es'ablishmont into order, enlarging the accommodation and providiog for the safety and convenience of the boarders. In the first place he has made an Addition to both floors of the building, 40 feeS by
16 feet, whereby on the ground floor the dining-room is now 20 feet square, , affording ample space, light and ventilation, aod there are also three new rooms, while on the,upper floor five additional rooms aw provided, one of which is specially adapted for the use of invalids. In the next place a spacious balc:my furnisbed with an escapß ladder has been erec'ed along the whole frontage, at,d lastly, the whole of the old buildiug bag been

mote the comrort and convenience of the guests. Oq the three sides there is a balcony with mtans of escape in j case of fire, and provision 'is being made on the further side for some suitable ladder escapes. Hot and r>nld
water is supplied to the bath-room and lavatory; the smoking and sittingrooms ara cosy and cheerful, while the kitchen and pantry are ell that could be wished for. Gas is laid on nearly all over ttye house, frfijitage has a very imposing appearance, and Mr Brooking, the architect responsible for the new work, is to be congratulated on having mads such excellent improvements as t<i constitute the building a really up-to-date boarding-house.
