ENTERTAINMENTS.

" OH&BLIE'S ADNi." Laughter, prolonged and unstinted, was the order at the Theatre Royal on Wednesday nigbt, when the Bryant Comedy Company made their final appearance in the inimitable,- side-split-ting success, "Charlie's Aunt.'' The audience was enthusiastic, though not so large 9S the merit of the piece deserved; but those present evidently thoroughly enjoyed tbe progress of " Charlie's Aunt, from Brazil, where the nuts come from." The various parts were all well filled, the prineipal characters being particularly good. Mr E. I). Haygarth, as " Lord Fancourt Babbery " (who undertakes the representation of the fictitious " Charlie's Aunt"), created roars of laughter at every turn, and Messrs Keon as Charlie and Archer as Jack Chesney were equally successful in their efforts. The part of Donna Lucia D'Alvadores (the real aunt) was undertaken by Miss Olive Sisley, whose acting wbs well received. The piece went with a vim from start to finish, and was staged in a manner which left nothing to be desired in fche way of scen'c effects. Tho Bryant Company may certainly expect a good reception should they give New Plymouth another turn later on,

MISS VIOLET MOUNT'S CONOERT. This evening at the Theatre Royal, Miss Mount's concert will be given. In making her debut to a New Plymouth audience, Miss Mount doss so with the most flattering testimonials from other ■WiMts...FromPreßßrje.D it is abunaantly evident that she has created a most favourable impression wherever she has sung, and the quality of her voice as well as the artistic manner in which it is regulated, have received nothing bu- thehigbesi prai-e, A glance at the advertised programme should suffice to attract all lovers of good music. Tbe local amateurs who ! are assisting are all so well known-and appreciated that every item to be j rendered should afford those present | the greatest pleasure, and it may fairly be anticipated that the concert will prove a rare treat. The growth 'of musical culture here is now so marked that an entertainment such as th*t to take place this evening should attract a large and appreciative audience.
